Being Bipolar: Camping, camping, camping!

kick_agoraphobia_poster-p228005850889879497td2h_210.jpgI’m not here. I am out camping with the kids and the dogs. Hubby is with us, too. (Someone has to pull the fifth wheel! Just kidding, sweetheart.) My sister-in-law and her family are with us. They just bought a cute pop-up and picked it up this morning and drove straight to the campground. It’s their very first trip where they aren’t camping in a tent. I’m sure it is exciting for them. I remember our first trip out in a camper.

I was never a camping kind of person but hubby always wanted to go. I absolutely refused to camp in a tent so he decided to buy a travel trailer. We started out with something really cheap (around $1,000) to see if we would enjoy it before sinking a lot of money into it. We were scared to death the first time we had to tow it and set it up. Once we had it backed in and all set up, it was really nice to relax and we were proud that we were able to get it done all by ourselves.

We camped one full summer in our first camper and everyone started looking forward to our camping trips. Last summer was our second year camping. We decided to buy something nicer and started shopping around for a used fifth wheel. We found just what we were looking for at just a tad over $7,000. We camped half of the summer in our new to us fifth wheel and we absolutely love it. This is our first trip out this year and I am anxious and excited at the same time. That’s normal for me. If I have to leave home, I get antsy. We were fortunate to get the same spot we had last year at this campground. The camper faces the woods and is away from everyone else so I will have more privacy and won’t feel like I am in a crowd. I’m happy about that.

Well, have a great day! Right about now I am probably watching the dogs play while we get breakfast ready.

Sounds like fun! We’ve been contemplating buying a camper ourselves, but have been struggling with spending the money. It seems like a bad time to tap into our savings.

Although….I bet we could get a screaming deal right now.

I’ve never used a tent trailer, and we’ve been thinking about those.

Some of my best memories were of camping with my family. When I hit about 12 or 13, my parents bought a cabin on a lake. We stopped camping and would then go the cabin instead, but it was still the same basic fun. Now we just didn’t have to tow anything!
